From the website of excellent USA solar power company Sun City Energy:
Solar Rebate: 30% of your solar investment is already paid for!
Simply own a Sun City Solar System and take advantage of the new 30% solar tax rebate. Not only do you lower your tax liability with the new solar tax credit, you also take control of your energy dollars by lowering your energy use. The Federal solar tax rebate is subtracted off your bottom line tax liability. If you receive a Federal tax refund, you will get an additional 30% of your solar investment added to your tax refund check.
30% solar tax rebate for solar power and solar hot water
Residential Solar Rebate Tax Credit
The residential solar rebate tax credit is 30% of your solar investment for hot water and solar power electric. To be eligible for the solar tax credit, solar thermal systems must be certified by the SRCC. There is no SRCC certification required for solar electric.
Commercial Solar Rebate Tax Credit
The commercial tax credit is 30%. The commercial solar rebate tax credit can be carried forward twenty years or back one year. Your solar investment can be depreciated over 5 years on an accelerated basis. Interest on loans may also enter into the tax credit calculation under section 266 of the tax code. For a complete guide of the commercial and residential Federal tax credits, please go to: www.seia.org
There is a difference between a tax deduction and a tax credit. A tax deduction is subtracted from income before tax liability is computed. A tax credit is subtracted from the total tax liability. Currently, there is no solar rebate for residential pool systems or solar heating systems.

Spire Corp (SPIR) surprises with big quarter, analyst estimates blown away
Longtime solar energy stalwart Spire, a great American success story and maker of turnkey solar power manufacturing equipment and related photovoltaic solar energy technology, has let the world in on something solar power industry insiders have been feeling for awhile; the news ain't all bad 'round here.
Despite analys projections of 0.12 per share profit for the quarter, SPIR followers were blown away by the reported 0.62, though at least a third of it is non-recurring.
At 4.71 the shares may seem less popular than others out there, but this is a tightly-held company and one also must appreciate the move into concentrated solar power.

China versus USA for global solar energy leadership?
Although Japan and Europe have certainly been photovoltaic solar power pioneers, American innovation and Chinese manufacturing capabilities are about to turn the world on its ear.
Here are some key players in China's fast growing alternative energy technology sector; 8 publicly-listed global solar energy companies to follow in the months ahead. Rather than investing directly in individual equity securities, more conservative and medium risk investors would be prudent to include (in a well diversified, judiciously blended portfolio of cash, bonds, real estate and equities) a dollar cost averaging plan into green power mutual funds that include the world's leading clean power stocks.

Photovoltaic Solar Energy Stocks, PV Solar Power Investing 2008 Review
The waning months of the Bush error revealed a world in financial turmoil, and visions of a clean green future were cast aside with every other positive sentiment. $40 oil is actually better for the solar industry than $140 oil, because the entire economy breaks down at the higher level. So while a lot of good news came out in Q3 and Q4, a bear market tends to ignore all this. The biggest thing was the solar energy tax credit in the USA was attached to the bailout bill and extended for 8 years, so Bush may actually get props some day for something he fought so hard against. Funny, in a curious, semi-amusing way.

12 Top Green Energy Stocks for 2009; Dream Dozen Clean Power Companies
Here are some major clean energy stocks, offering growth stock potential for years to come. They have been doubly hit by the equity markets crunch and the oil price slide, and though they appear to be bloodied, even wounded, many are among the finest publicly-traded companies on earth. A stock down two-thirds needs to triple to get back to where it was, yet for some of these companies sequential revenue growth will continue and others will regain recent levels within a year or two. Everyone is focusing on the oil price and has forgotten the crucial role clean energy plays in reducing global warming. The trend to cleaner, more decentralized power supplies will continue.
Individual investors should only consider investing a small portion of their portfolio in individual stocks, and even then only if you are a higher risk, longer term investor, as part of a widely diversified portfolio including bonds or bond funds and cash assets. If you are a medium risk investor with a longer term horizon, it is much more priudent to look for green energy funds and dollar cost average into positions. Those who have started these plans in the last few months are building sizable positions while the world panics, and they'll be systematically adding to these positions in the months and years ahead. Will you be doing the same, and perhaps most importantly in these low valuation days, are you?
